Discourage litigation. Persuade your neighbors to compromise whenever you can. As a peacemaker the lawyer has superior opportunity of being a good man. There will still be business enough.
We are, first and foremost, litigators. No one likes litigation and, as Lincoln admonishes, we do our best to keep our clients out of it. We look for "win-win" solutions and use alternative dispute resolution when appropriate. But sometimes litigation is inevitable. When it is, we fight fair but we fight hard and we fight to win. We handle civil and commercial litigation in all forums, including state and federal trial and appellate courts and a variety of arbitration venues. In a commercial practice like ours, common sense often prevails and matters are often resolved by motions or are settled. But we can—and do—try cases to verdict for our clients using the latest trial graphics and technology. Successes from our recent past include a victory at trial (later affirmed on appeal) in a multimillion dollar case asserted against a reinsurance client and the dismissal of a class action against a public company client via a motion to the Court.
